As consumers, we are always looking for ways to make our lives easier. Internet access is essential today because it’s how we can most easily keep in touch with friends, do homework, and perform our many daily tasks. Not all providers are reliable. So, here’s a list of the fastest plans to choose from.
Comcast Xfinity
With its Gigabit Pro plan, which boasts max download and upload speeds up to 3,000Mbps, Xfinity has earned its name for having the fastest residential internet speeds. More widely available is Xfinity’s Extreme 105 plan, which has advertised speeds of up to 105Mbps for $55 a month.
Consider what kind of internet connection an ISP delivers when you’re looking for a high-speed plan. Comcast’s Gigabit Pro plan uses FTTH service, but the majority of its coverage area uses cable or hybrid infrastructure. As a result, maximum upload speeds on the plan will be 35Mbps—substantially slower than its maximum download speeds.
Google Fiber
Google Fiber recently rolled out its own 2-gigabit plan, “2 Gig,” with symmetrical download/upload speeds starting at just $100 per month. Google Fiber service is widely available through different providers, which makes it an excellent choice for remote workers and students, online gamers, and social media enthusiasts.
When it comes to home internet service or mobile Internet, Google Fiber’s contract-free plans have become a popular choice for consumers, who are drawn by the company’s competitive pricing and favorable service terms.
AT&T Fiber
If you need a super-fast internet connection, AT&T is the best choice. AT&T offers the cheapest cost per Mbps for its top multi-gig service at less than 4 cents per Mbps. The standard price for that service is $180 per month, but it’s still a good deal since AT&T utilizes a 100% fiber connection that is capable of delivering up to 5,000Mbps.
If you’re looking for a fiber-based Internet and TV bundle plan, AT&T’s other offerings are still a good deal—especially considering the provider’s new speed increases. All plans include unlimited data, no equipment charges, and don’t need a contract.
Verizon Fios
Verizon Fios’s equipment fee is a bit higher than other high-speed internet providers, but you won’t have to pay anything extra if you sign up for its Gigabit Connection, which costs $90 a month (940Mbps downloads, 880Mbps uploads). When signing up for the Fios Gigabit Connection, you will receive many complimentary services with your purchase, such as rewards cards and free service subscriptions.
